Benxi Man Autonomous County lies in the hinterland of Liaodong
Peninsula between east longitudes 123°34'53" and 124°45'42"
and between north latitudes 40°48'50" and 41°33'50".
On its east are Huanren andKuandian, on its west Benxi and Liaoyang,
on its south Dandong and itsn north Shenyang and Fushun.
Benxi Man Autonomous County covers an area of 3344 km2.
It is a mountainous county. It is in the north temperate zone
and belongs to continental monsoon climate.The annual average
rainfall is 797.5mm with frost-free period 110-115 days. Yearly
annual sunshine time is 2411 hours. The county is devided into
15 towns with 300,000 people.
As early as the Neolithic Age, there are people living and
multiplying in Benxi City. The land has gone through all the
vicissitudes of life and has a long history. The organizational
system of the county began in 1906 (or the 32th year under Guangxu's
regin). From 1959, it was under the command of Benxi City, Liaoning
Province. In 1989, authorized by the State Council, Benxi Man
Autonomous County was established.
